6/30/2023 0 Comments The Prophecy Con by Patrick Weekes![]() The books jump around slight chronologically, with the numbers in the title being the main clue as to when it takes place (Three Parts Dead, Two Serpents Rise, Full Fathom Five, Last First Snow, and Four Roads Cross being the published order). it's a legal thriller with monsters and gods. ![]() The main character of the first book is a necromancer who gets a job with a prestigious firm (magic users are all sort of necromancers, by one measure or another) that involves discovering why a city's god died, and bring him back (well, something of power in the same general shape) when the time comes. It's a fantasy world best described as "contemporary," where the realization that humans can interact directly with the power of faith the gods feed on/are made of led to wars between the gods and beings now known as the Deathless Kings. Every book is about a different person (well, except when a book has a cameo or returns to an earlier setting like the newest one does). It's fantasy Oceans 11 in a modernist fantasy setting, starring a female main character who actually feels smart (and was smarter than me as a reader in at least two cases). ![]() The Palace Job by Patrick Weekes, and the other two books in the trilogy. ![]()
